Abstract

Dear colleagues, our authors and readers!

The second issue of our journal for 2022 is dedicated to a specific scientific problem – genres of the media sphere, which, as is well known, are dynamic, constantly updated, and interact with genres of other spheres and other linguocultures. The relevance of the problem, which attracts many linguists, has made it possible to gather researchers interested in different media genres in one issue of the journal, and in general, it seems that we have managed to present a number of touches to the picture of genres in the media sphere that, as everyone has long agreed, has become dominant in cultural and linguistic practice of modern society, which allows us to characterize the latter as media-centric.

It is therefore not surprising that the main idea of the issue is the renewal of genres.

In the “New aspects of genres” section, Natalya Alexandrovna Prom from Volgograd draws attention to the already familiar (although far from “old”) genres of the author’s column and blog, but in new aspects which are dialogization and provocativeness.

The articles of the second section are indicated by its title, namely "New media genres". The analysis of the spoiler genre presented in the article by our Krasnoyarsk colleagues Elena Valerievna Osetrova and her student Ulyana Skovorodkina has surprised the reviewers since this is truly a pioneering description and addition to the list of genres. Yuri Vladimirovich Krylov from Novosibirsk describes genres that are quite traditional in content – they come down to an answer, or a reaction to the previous remark of the dialogue; but their novelty is undeniable, and it is found in the linguistic embodiment that demonstrates the visualization of Internet communication, going beyond the language.

The section “Novgorod motive”, traditional for our journal, deals with the texts of a well-known Novgorod journalist, which were published in the first decade of our century. This small historical distance allows us to see manifestations of important trends in post-Soviet journalism and author's preferences in the choice of genre, content and stylistic devices in several dozen texts by one author. Comprehension of this small episode from the recent history of Novgorod journalism seems interesting in various aspects.

The section "Young voices" includes articles by really young authors. Daria Ilina from Novosibirsk has completed her postgraduate studies and is preparing to defend her Ph.D thesis. In our issue she presents interesting observations on the new life of popular science genres traditional for Russian journalism, shows how the existence of a new Internet environment for them affects their genre nature. Ekaterina Kukshinova, a master’s student at Novgorod University, analyzes the genres of video game journalism that has developed around a completely new sphere of life, which has become part of the living of young people. It is worth saying that a young voice is also heard in the article about the spoiler, where Ulyana Skovorodkina discusses the new genre in co-authorship with with her scientific adviser.

Thus, the issue of the journal offered to your attention can be perceived as a collective sketch to the picture of the functioning of the genres in the media sphere.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who responded to the invitation and took part in the creation of this linguistic reflection of media reality in the genre aspect.
