Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the genres of video game journalism. A retrospective look at the problem is that we consider the genres prevailing in video game journalism before its transition to the modern media space and their transformations after. The novelty of the study is determined by the fact that the genres under consideration are among the poorly studied media phenomena. An analysis of publications in which texts about video games were published reveals the stages in the formation of video game journalism: a circle of authors was formed, translated materials were replaced by the classic genres of news, review, reportage, report, then video game journalism gradually mastered new media genres, including multimedia ones, which are stream, hit parade. These illustrations of different genres show how new content is "packed" into well-known genre forms. The study of the genres of video game journalism shall allow us to more exhaustively characterize the specifics of this area of journalism and identify the features that distinguish it from other areas.
