The article examines Russian synonymous dictionaries in their dynamics – from lexicographic editions of the 18th - 19th centuries. to the latest dictionaries. The trends in the development of synonymous lexicography are shown, associated both with the system-centric description, and with the orientation towards the communicative requests of the addressee.
